Every now and then opportunity knocks. Right now, one of the easiest to hear is the premium opportunity for cashmere fibre. Cashmere production is perfectly suited to the New Zealand environment and to New Zealand farming operations. It’s a sizable opportunity too, with the cashmere clothing market expected to reach USD $3.1 Billion by 2022.
In January 2018, New Zealand Cashmere announced a partnership with Christchurch-based lifestyle fashion brand, Untouched World and Wellington-based yarn engineering firm, Woolyarns. Together they have developed a strategy to commercialise the opportunity for New Zealand grown cashmere fibre.
What’s needed now…is more fibre. To help get the ball rolling New Zealand Cashmere is hard at work travelling around the country discussing the opportunity with farmers.
